Recently classified as an invasive species in Euro Recently classified as an invasive species in Europe, the Nile Goose (Nijlgans) is not documented to negatively affect local biodiversity. Nonetheless, all its legal protections have been removed as it is described as 'aggressive', a 'nuisance' to golf courses, with concerns that it will 'hybridize' with local species. Yet it's historical range included parts of Europe, before industrialization eradicated it locally; who determines, then, which populations are too 'alien' to remain?

More Nijlgans (Egyptian Goose) experiments. Malign More Nijlgans (Egyptian Goose) experiments. Maligned with little evidence for their 'aggressive' behavior and taking nesting space from local fauna, it's hard not to see echoes of xenophobic rhetorics in the ecological domain...
