Recently classified as an invasive species in Euro Recently classified as an invasive species in Europe, the Nile Goose (Nijlgans) is not documented to negatively affect local biodiversity. Nonetheless, all its legal protections have been removed as it is described as 'aggressive', a 'nuisance' to golf courses, with concerns that it will 'hybridize' with local species. Yet it's historical range included parts of Europe, before industrialization eradicated it locally; who determines, then, which populations are too 'alien' to remain?
So thrilled to be organizing this conference here So thrilled to be organizing this conference here in Leiden! With support from @rijksmuseumvanoudheden and @nino.leiden , and the inspiring @iammonicahanna as keynote speaker. More to come!!
